Salaries And Allowances For TSC Teachers Per Job Group

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recently announced the revised teacher pay in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for 2021-2025.

The teachers’ monthly salaries are determined by their teaching levels. According to the 2021-2025 CBA, primary school entry-level teachers in Grade B5 earn the least, earning between Sh21,756 and Sh27,195 per month.

High school principals (Grade D5), on the other hand, are the most paid, earning between Sh131,380 and Sh157,656 per month.

Furthermore, teachers in Grade C1 will receive between Sh27,195 and Sh33,994. C1 is the second work group for primary school teachers promoted from Grade B5.

It is also the entry-level job grade for secondary school teachers with a secondary education diploma. The wage scales for C1 teachers in elementary and secondary school are the same.

Secondary school teachers with a Bachelor’s degree in education in the C2 group and senior teachers (C3) will earn between Sh34,955 and 43,694 and between Sh43,154 and Sh53,94, respectively.

Other grade-related salaries include:

Sh52,308 – Sh65,385 for Grade C4

Sh62,272 to Sh77,840 for Grade C5.

Sh77,840 – Sh93,408 for Grade D1

Sh91,041-Sh109,249 for Grade D2

Sh104,644-Sh125,573 for Grade D3

Sh118,242-Sh141,891 for Grade D4

These salary will be paid in addition to the new TSC allowances for teachers. TSC teachers receive a variety of perks, including dwelling allowance, leave money, commuting allowance, and hardship allowances, among others.

The allowances are paid based on elements such as a workstation, individual teacher job grade, responsibilities, and others such as the sort of learners handled.
