Ruben Loftus-Cheek has concluded his permanent transfer from Chelsea to Serie A club AC Milan.

The 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract at San Siro, keeping him at the club until 2027 for an estimated fee of £13.7 million.

Loftus-Cheek, who joined Chelsea as an eight-year-old and rose through the ranks at Stamford Bridge, has parted ways with the club following this transfer.

The midfielder made his professional debut for the Blues in 2014, but he struggled to secure a regular starting position during his tenure in West London.

Loftus-Cheek made 25 Premier League appearances during Chelsea’s turbulent 2022-23 season, his most in a single season. However, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2023, the English club has decided to let him depart.

Loftus-Cheek played a total of 155 appearances for the Blues, assisting them in winning two Premier League titles, one League Cup, one Club World Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.

The 10-time England international has also spent time on loan at Crystal Palace and Fulham, but the transfer to Milan will mark the first time in his career that he plays club football outside of London.

Loftus-Cheek will reunite with former Chelsea companions Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori at the semifinalists of the Champions League.

The Englishman is AC Milan’s second acquisition of the summer, following the free transfer of goalkeeper Marco Sportiello from Atalanta BC.

Loftus-Cheek is the latest Chelsea player to leave this summer, joining Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante, and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
