The decision on whether schools will be reopened before January 2021 will be made public by 25th of September.

President Kenyatta will this month issue new policies as part of reopening the economy that has deteriorated since the beginning coronavirus pandemic in Kenya.
While addressing the media on 14th, Sept 2020 at the KICD, the Education Cabinet Secretary Magoha announced that the decision on reopening of schools will be publicized on 25th of September this year, when a mega meeting with stakeholders will take place.
Magoha held a consultative conference today on. Monday where education stakeholders met to contemplate on school reopening modalities. The major meeting to be held on September 25th was earlier announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta and will be headed by the health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe and his interior counterpart Fred Matiangi.
It is after that meeting when decisions on the school reopening will be concluded. The Cabinet Secretary of Education has remained adamant that schools will reopen in January 2021 but noticed that the determination was not cast on the stone that could not change according to the Coronavirus curve.
The number of coronavirus cases has been significantly dropping over the few days with roughly 150 cases being reported weekly. Private schools have been urging the Ministry of Education to reconsider earlier reopening plan for the KCSE and KCPE candidates in October.
2021 January had been scheduled for the resumption of learning in a worst Covid19 scenario. Kenya Private Schools Association (KEPSA) also want national examination to be done by this year December.
Advocates of earlier resumption of learning argue that it is not mandatory for students to cover the full remaining syllabus noting that the exams fun be set to cover up to Form three work.
