Real Sociedad Expresses Interest in Signing Out-of-Favour Manchester United Star
Real Sociedad is interested in loaning Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.
According to Noticias de Gipuzkoa (h/t Daily Mail), Real Sociedad has expressed interest in Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek during the current transfer window.
The Reale Arena club hopes to acquire the international from Holland on a temporary basis this summer.
To this end, the La Liga club is ‘negotiating’ with Manchester United to acquire the midfielder on loan with an £8 million buy option.
The current length of the 26-year-old’s contract with the Red Devils is until June 2025. However, he is contemplating leaving the club within the next few weeks.
Real Sociedad is interested in Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek.
United acquired Van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam for £40 million in the summer of 2020.
At his Eredivisie club, the Dutch national demonstrated tremendous potential.
Unfortunately, the Old Trafford midfielder has not lived up to the club’s expectations.
The 26-year-old even joined Everton on loan in January 2022, but was ineffective.
Over the years, Van de Beek’s career has been hindered by injuries.
The Holland international missed the second half of the 2022/23 season due to an injury sustained in January. The 26-year-old wound up making only 10 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions.
Donny van de Beek has struggled to establish himself at Manchester United.
Last summer, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were added to United’s roster.
During the current transfer window, Mason Mount was acquired from Chelsea. Ten Hag has Bruno Fernandes available to him as well.
Van de Beek may require regular game time to regain his rhythm. Considering the competition for spots at Old Trafford, it would be prudent for the Holland national team player to seek new pastures to resume his career.
La Real was one of the finest teams in Spain last season and will compete in the Champions League this season.
However, it remains to be seen if they can reach an agreement with the Red Devils for the 26-year-old.
