Just a day following learners’ resumption of learning, private schools are appealing to the government to release loans worth Sh.7 billion pledged to cushion them against the impacts of COVID-19.
David Muchina the Director of Earlybird Group of Schools admitted that private schools had been overwhelmed with electricity bills, bank loans, rents, and worker’s salaries.
Mr Muchina has asked the Education Ministry to ensure proper Covid-19 awareness in learning institutions to curb the spreading virus. He added that some private schools have idle classses which can be used to decongest over populated public schools.
He asked the government to continue with their awareness on Covid-19 and to create an environment that is safe for learners. This happens even as the government release Ksh 4 billion to public primary schools and Ksh 14 billion to secondary schools in the country.
Speaking in Mount Kenya during his reopening inspection tour, Magoha said the goverment has set aside SH.10 billion shilling to cushion schools that have been affected by floods in Baringo and Kisumu Counties.
“The rate of reporting regions per regions , most of the regions had 80 per cent of reportin ecept from the Coast and North Eastern Provinces.” Said Magoha promising to look for learners who have not yet reported to school and persuade them to go back and continue with learning.
