Principal Assaults Student, Hospitalized Over Head and Neck Injuries
The police in Londiani sub-county of Kericho are investigating an incident in which a Form Four student allegedly sustained facial and neck injuries due to an alleged assault by a school principal.
The incident reportedly occurred at Sacred Hill Girls’ Secondary School in Londiani, where the student was punished on Monday following an altercation with a classmate.
A medical report from a private hospital in Nakuru, where she was treated and discharged on Tuesday, confirmed that she had suffered head and neck injuries, along with facial bruising.
Upon her release from the hospital, her mother returned her to school and questioned why her child had been punished and subsequently suspended. She alleges that the school administration called the police on her for causing a disturbance on school grounds.

The mother and daughter were arrested and briefly detained by Londiani sub-county police.
Gloria Kunga, the OCPD, explained, “We dispatched police officers who found the woman shouting continuously. To defuse the situation, we brought the woman, her daughter, and the principal to the station.”
Evans Ogamba, the director of education for the subcounty, acknowledged that the school had erred in sending the student home without informing the parents. However, he denied claims that the student was subjected to detrimental punishment.
Regarding the altercation with a classmate, Mr. Ogamba stated, “I asked the principal if the girl was punished, and she stated that the student was not beaten, but we are investigating the incident and will take appropriate action.”
The student’s mother, who has provided a statement to the police, is demanding justice for her daughter, especially with the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) exams just a few weeks away. She hopes for a swift resolution to allow her daughter ample time to prepare for the upcoming exams.
