Across the world, Catholic faithful dedicated part of their Sunday service to pray for Pope Francis, who was reported to be in critical condition on Saturday.
Church leaders urged their congregations to offer prayers for the 88-year-old Pontiff, who has remained committed to his duties and peace advocacy despite his deteriorating health in recent years.
Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s G Hospital and has remained there for the past nine days, undergoing treatment for double pneumonia. After experiencing breathing difficulties for several days, he was diagnosed with the infection in both lungs on February 14th.
Under continuous medical supervision, his condition became a cause for heightened concern following a statement from the Holy See Press Office on Saturday.
The statement revealed that Pope Francis had suffered an asthma-like respiratory crisis of prolonged intensity, necessitating the administration of high-flow oxygen.
It further stated that he required blood transfusions but remained conscious, spending the day seated in an armchair. Despite being in greater pain compared to Friday, he continued to show resilience.
Faithful Express Admiration and Concern
A clergyman expressed admiration for the Pope’s dedication to the Gospel, acknowledging his frail health while praying for his recovery. Another believer emphasized the Pope’s significance, stating that his voice is crucial in a world filled with hatred.
Describing him as a messenger of love who echoes Christ’s teachings, they stressed the importance of his presence during these challenging times.
Outside G Hospital in Rome, hundreds of well-wishers gathered in prayer, hoping for the Pope’s swift recovery.
Meanwhile, on Sunday evening, after remaining inactive on his social media platform since February 16th, Pope Francis shared an update. He expressed gratitude for the numerous messages of affection and thanked all those worldwide who have been praying for his healing.
