Mauricio Pochettino is trying to convince Chelsea to acquire Paulo Dybala.

The modest release clause of Paulo Dybala makes him a plausible target for Mauricio Pochettino.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is pursuing Paulo Dybala as a top attacking target. The Argentine manager is reportedly pressuring the club to make a move considering the attacker’s contract’s modest release clause.

Paulo Dybala endured one of the most perplexing instances of his career a year ago. Juventus had offered him a new contract, but reached an agreement with him and withdrew the offer. It enabled Roma to acquire the 29-year-old player on a free transfer.

Roma persuaded the Argentine from a sporting standpoint, but was unable to meet his salary requirements. However, Dyybala agreed to the transfer and accepted a pay cut that will earn him $6 million annually, including bonuses. According to reports, the 29-year-old desires a recognized profession, which should be reflected in this salary.

Therefore, a move away from Roma cannot be ruled out this summer, particularly given his contract’s low release clause. Dybala is available to clubs outside of Italy for €12 million, which may be enticing. His agents have already offered the 29-year-old to a number of elite clubs but are awaiting responses.

Mauricio Pochettino was the motivating force behind Chelsea’s desire to make a move before the season concluded. During his time with Tottenham, the Argentine manager wished to sign Dybala, but the 29-year-old famously chose to remain with Juventus.

The new Chelsea manager hopes to reignite interest in the Roma star, but will face competition from former clubs Tottenham and Manchester United. The Premier League duo are eager to acquire the Argentine if a salary agreement can be reached.

Dybala will presumably request a higher salary than what Juventus offered him in his previous contract. Therefore, it could be difficult for Tottenham to pursue the transaction, despite Spurs’ lack of need for the Argentine.

With their financial strength, Chelsea has a greater chance of striking a deal, but they may have to make room in their roster for a veteran talent. In the interim, they must act swiftly, as Roma may propose a new contract without a release clause.
