Paulo Dybala, a standout at Roma, discusses his future amid rumors of a transfer to Chelsea.

The Argentinian claims to be content in the Italian capital.

Paulo Dybala, a standout for Serie A’s Roma, has denied rumors that he will join Chelsea this summer and insisted he will remain with the Italian club.

A release clause in his contract allows him to join a team outside of Italy for just €12 million (£10 million).

Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea, is a known fan of his compatriot and attempted to acquire him during his previous stints with Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain.

Sunday, Thiago Silva added to the speculation by revealing that he and Dybala had discussed a potential move to Stamford Bridge when they ran into each other at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.

The 29-year-old has been in England over the past few days to attend several major sporting events, including meeting Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon and witnessing Max Verstappen extend his commanding lead atop the F1 championship standings on Sunday.

He returned to Rome in the evening and was mobbed by reporters at the airport, where he eventually addressed the transfer rumors and confirmed he will remain with Roma.

He told LAROMA24, “I’m excited for preseason, which begins tomorrow [Monday]. My future? I’m pleased at Roma. I will remain here.”

Dybala has been in England for the past few days.

Chelsea’s rumored interest in Dybala was always a bit odd, given that the club had already bolstered its attacking options by acquiring Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal and RB Leipzig sensation Christopher Nkunku.

Still, veteran central defender Thiago Silva would have jumped at the opportunity to play alongside the World Cup champion, as he told Sky Sport Italia: ‘I saw Paulo Dybala here, they [the media] talk about him coming to Chelsea.

“I’ve asked him if he plans to attend in a conversation with him. He is an outstanding athlete. I’d adore to play with him; he’d be a phenomenal addition to the team. Let’s see.”

Even though Dybala’s season was hampered by injury, he still managed to score 12 goals and provide six assists in 26 Serie A appearances, in addition to scoring five goals en route to the Europa League final.

When queried about the rumors on Saturday, Roma manager Jose Mourinho responded, ‘I don’t know about his contract.’ Mourinho did not appear overly concerned about the possibility of losing his star forward. Nevertheless, I communicate with Paulo as I do with all of my players.’

Chelsea, meanwhile, is rumored to be prioritizing the disposal of more players and the reduction of their still bloated squad, while acquiring a new midfielder, with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo as their top transfer target.
