Parents Whose Children Have Not Reported To School For Form One Admission To Be Imprisoned As Magoha Leads Door-To-Door Campaign.
The Education Ministry has issued a warning to parents of children who are meant to be in form and have not reported to the school that they risk being imprisoned.
The directive by the government is meant to ensure 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school is achieved. Education CS prof George Magoha says the government will stop at nothing until the 100 transitions is achieved.

"After Friday we shall turn to the parents to find out. If we find that you are keeping a child at home and the child is not in school, these policemen have 'pingus.' We shall arrest them." Said Magoha.
According to statistics, 93 per cent of students have reported to their various secondary schools. 7 per cent have not yet reported. Counties such as Kwale, Garissa and Kilifi are lagging behind.
"I want to urge the others especially Kwale and Kilifi and Garissa that are still lagging behind to continue to do so. I also want to ask the western region of this country to continue to mobilize children because they are still not where we want them to be. Said the CS.
But the transition to secondary school is complicated by various factors such as early pregnancies, poverty and drought that has ravaged counties such as Kilifi where 34 students at the Wakala girls secondary school failed to report to form.
Prof. Magoha has been leading a multi-sectoral door-to-door campaign in saying the national government will task the administrators and the police to mop out all children yet to report to secondary school and have their parents arrested for denying them the right to education
