ECDE Teachers’ Salary Increment
In Nyeri County, Early Childhood and Development Education (ECDE) teachers have reason to celebrate as the county has announced increased compensation benefits for over 800 educators, with adjustments ranging from Sh11,000 to Sh22,000.
Governor Mutahi Kahiga of Nyeri revealed during a meeting with educators that the salary increases are the result of a Scheme of Service developed by the Council of Governors (CoG) and approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
The Scheme of Service, championed by Governor Kahiga during his tenure as the chairman of the Education Committee at CoG, is designed to provide equal compensation for ECDE teachers across all 47 counties, ensuring that teachers in different regions, such as Turkana and Nyeri, receive equitable salaries. It also establishes a clear career progression framework for the educators.
The salary adjustments affect ECDE teachers in different job groups:
– Job Group ‘F’ teachers will see an increase from Sh13,983 to Sh25,220 per month, an increase of Sh11,237.
– Job Group ‘G’ teachers will receive Sh31,550 per month, up from Sh15,424.
– Job Group ‘H’ teachers will now earn a total of Sh34,750.
– Job Group ‘K’ teachers will see their gross pay increase to Sh52,833, up from Sh30,227.
