Manchester United Unveils Traveling Squad for USA Tour

Manchester United has announced their traveling squad for their impending tour of the United States, which begins on Saturday in New Jersey against Arsenal.

Some will feel unlucky not to have made the trip, including Matej Kovar, who has kept two clean sheets in one and a half preseason games for Manchester United, and Noam Emeran, who was man of the match against Leeds on Wednesday.

Eric Bailly and Alex Telles, who appear to be departing the club, are also absent. Telles is on the verge of joining Al-Nassr after the two clubs agreed to a £4 million transfer yesterday.

Despite playing against Lyon today, Brazilian midfielder Fred misses the journey due to a “personal issue,” according to the club’s official website, adding that “he is expected to join the rest of the squad shortly.”

Other players linked to summer exits, including goalkeeper Dean Henderson, center back Harry Maguire, midfielders Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek, and forward Anthony Elanga, do make the trek.

Henderson is a bit of a surprise, given that he was heavily linked with a transfer to Nottingham Forest, where he spent the previous season on loan.

Pending new registration Andre Onana will presumably join the team once his transfer is finalized and he obtains a visa.

Injury prevents Rhys Bennett and Tyrell Malacia from traveling.

Radek Vitek, Nathan Bishop, Alvaro Fernandez, Dan Gore, Kobbie Mainoo, Hannibal, Amad, Facu Pellistri, and Omari Forson are the nine academy stars boarding the aircraft.

Tom Heaton, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Antony, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford are the remaining members of the squad.

United face Wrexham in San Diego, Real Madrid in Houston, and Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas after their match against Arsenal.

Two more preseason games will be played at Old Trafford against Lens and Athletic Bilbao before the regular season begins on August 14 against Wolves.
