Narok County Governor Samwel Tunai has formed an education steering committee that will oversee a successful reopening of schools in January 2021. The committee will also oversee the safety of learners and teachers in schools.
“This is when we are able to haul our full picture of what we need to do, what we are able to do as leaders with only one purpose. To ensure that when schools reopen on 4th January 2021, the children of Narok county from the ECDE, primary schools, secondary schools colleges and universities are able to go back and continue with their learning. ” Said Narok County Governor Tunai.
Governor Tunai was speaking at the Masaai Mara University after convening an educational stakeholder meeting. He stated that the research by the education department revealed that 95 per cent of public schools did not meet the criteria required for school resumption.
The Narok County Commissioner Evans Achoki urged parents to prepare their children for school resumption. He also asked parents to get prepared to pay school fees when schools resume in January next year.
The leaders informed Narok residents that Covid-19 is real and urged stakeholders to act as an example to members of the public by ensuring they comply with covid-19 precaution measures even as covid-19 cases continue to surge in schools
