Mwangi wa Iria, Peter Kenneth Among New Appointees in Ruto’s Government.
President William Ruto has announced significant appointments to key positions in the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), the Executive Office of the President, and other governance roles. These changes aim to enhance the administration’s capacity to fulfill its mandate effectively.
Strengthening the Executive Office
According to Arthur Siya, Principal Administrative Secretary in the office of the Head of Public Service, the new appointments within the Executive Office are intended to bolster the team supporting the President in delivering on his responsibilities. He noted that the recommendations were made by the Public Service Commission in accordance with the relevant laws governing public offices.
Key appointments include Gerald Nyaoma Arita as the new CBK Deputy Governor and Prof. Adams Oloo as the Advisor for Strategy and Communication within the Council of Economic Advisors. Additionally, Dr. Silvester Okumu Kasuku has been appointed Advisor of Governance, while Maj. (Rtd) Ali Mahat Somane assumes the role of Advisor for Security Affairs under the Office of the National Security Advisor.
Governance and Foreign Representation
In governance-related roles, Joe Owaka Ager was selected as the Secretary of Governance, and former Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Yaror Gabow was appointed Consul General for the Kenyan Consulate in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. These appointments reflect a deliberate effort to strengthen governance structures and Kenya’s international representation.
Leadership in Regulatory and Strategic Agencies
The President also made changes in leadership for regulatory and strategic agencies. Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria has been appointed Chairperson of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board, while Peter Kenneth, a former presidential aspirant, takes over as Chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
Bruno Oguda Obodha has been named Managing Director of East African Portland Cement, and Douglas Murei Kaibos will serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.
These appointments are expected to bring a renewed focus and expertise to the respective offices, furthering the government’s agenda for national development.
