Speaker Justin Muturi Joins Kenya Kwanza Alliance
Justin Muturi, the Speaker of the National Assembly, has joined the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
Muturi, a Democratic Party (DP) presidential candidate, was welcomed by Deputy President William Ruto and his allies at a Nairobi hotel on Saturday, April 9.
The outgoing National Assembly Speaker joined other like-minded parties such as DP Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC), and Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya.
The agreement allowing Speaker Muturi’s Democratic Party to join Kenya Kwanza was signed by the leaders.
DP Ruto thanked Muturi for joining Kenya Kwanza and defying pressure from senior political heavyweights to join their teams.
“This is a historic day, the culmination of months of intense consultations… I am a very proud Kenyan that the Democratic Party has joined us today; the party was founded and is led by Kenya’s best economist, Hon. Mwai Kibaki “According to the DP.
“It’s a pleasure to be on the same side of the political equation as Justin Muturi.” “While welcoming the Democratic Party leader to the Kenya Kwanza coalition, he added.
Speaker Muturi, for his part, stated that he was directed by his party to consult with all people of goodwill and other party leaders before joining any coalition to ensure that the Democratic Party’s agenda is prioritized.
“Today I am happy because my Party has given me that support, and I want to tell my brothers who believe in this conversation that we cannot be if the others do not. Kenya cannot exist for different people. Kenya is a large country for all of us “Muturi, the Speaker, stated.
“I’ve travelled throughout Kenya, and I can confirm that many Kenyans’ hearts are with this party. We, at DP, are delighted to fully support the Kenya Kwanza alliance “He continued.
The Speaker was critical of President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2021, and political analysts believe this is why he chose to join DP Ruto’s faction.
On Friday, October 29, he questioned President Kenyatta’s directive on the Covid-19 protocol while presiding over the closing ceremony of the Counties Public Service Boards meeting in Mombasa.
Muturi stated that when the President announced the relaxation of the Covid-19 protocols, he ignored matters of great importance to society in order to prioritize politics.
The Speaker stated that it is unjust to limit church attendance while allowing full capacity in public transportation vehicles, bars, and political rallies.
