Mt. Kenya Leaders Appeal for Nationwide Support of Government Projects

Mt. Kenya Leaders Appeal for Nationwide Support of Government Projects. Political appointees from Central Kenya have emphasized the importance of Kenyans rallying behind government initiatives, arguing that collaboration yields greater benefits than opposition.

Calls for Unity in Development

During a funeral service in Kaganda village, Kiharu Constituency, for Joseph Njenga, father to lawyer Adrian Kamotho, the leaders encouraged citizens to back government projects designed for their welfare. The gathering included Moses Kuria, the Economic Advisor in the President’s Office, and Simon Gikuru, the Deputy Statehouse Controller. The officials stressed that while Kenyans have a democratic right to oppose the government, opposing beneficial initiatives is counterproductive.

Kuria assured residents that government projects are aimed at improving their lives. He cited the resumption of construction on the Mau Mau roads as evidence of ongoing development. According to him, such projects are designed to benefit all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.

Highlighting Ongoing Projects

Kuria elaborated on several government initiatives, including the ongoing construction of Export Processing Zones in various counties, affordable housing projects, and the fertilizer subsidy program. He noted that the fertilizer subsidy would reimburse tea farmers who had paid over KSh 2,500 per bag by January. He urged Kenyans to seize these opportunities to enhance their quality of life, irrespective of their political stance.

Advocating for Government Success

Simon Gikuru underscored the need for citizens to support their government, stating that the success of the President translates into national success. He highlighted that failure at the governmental level would negatively impact all citizens.

Calls for Political Tolerance

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga emphasized the need for political tolerance among leaders. He urged politicians to prioritize development over divisive politics. His sentiments were echoed by Denis Itumbi, the Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Executive Office of the President, and Maina Karobia, an East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP. They encouraged Kenyans to register for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), emphasizing its importance in enhancing healthcare access.

The leaders’ collective message was clear: unity and support for government projects are essential for the nation’s progress.
