MOE Partner With German Firm To Recruit TVET Graduates
Under a government-backed labor migration initiative, a German staffing agency will conduct interviews with Kenyan individuals who possess technical and vocational skills suitable for various sectors in Germany.
Mr. Ezekiel Machogu, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) of Education, held a meeting with Mr. Volker Falchi, the Managing Director of BBW Group, a vocational education and training company. This meeting took place on a Friday at Mr. Machogu’s office located in Jogoo House.
Other key attendees included Principal Secretary for Higher Education and Research, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, and her counterpart for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Dr. Esther Muoria. Senior officials from the Ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs, Diaspora Affairs, and Labor were also present.
Mr. Machogu emphasized that Kenya has nurtured a pool of young individuals with the necessary technical competencies to work globally. He highlighted the government’s robust technical, vocational, and training system, which possesses extensive training experience and can supply employees with the required skills.
Mr. Falchi shared his company’s objective of recruiting 250,000 individuals from around the world for various industries in Germany. He expressed the need for Kenyan workers to meet the human resource demands in his country. He specified that candidates must exhibit a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn German, and the technical competencies needed by German industries.

Mr. Falchi emphasized the importance of skilled workers for a country’s investment potential and suggested that the connection between training and industry is crucial to attracting skilled labor.
Furthermore, he discussed the significance of an educational environment that fosters critical thinking, enabling students to apply and expand their knowledge and competencies both in school and in the workplace.
The areas of initial interest for this initiative include electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, welding and fabrication, and mechatronics.
