MoE Issue Schedule for 2023 Term 3 Academic Calendar
The Ministry of Education in Kenya has released the third-term school calendar for the 2023 National Examinations, which includes some important details:
1. All schools are set to begin exams on October 30th, 2023.
2. The third term for the 2023 academic year began on August 28th, 2023, and is scheduled to last until October 27th, 2023, in preparation for the upcoming national examinations.
3. Parents are advised to make necessary preparations for their children and collaborate closely with instructors to ensure a smooth examination period.
In addition, the Ministry of Education’s Basic Education Principal Secretary, Belio Kipsang, has emphasized that schools should refrain from engaging in activities involving parents during this period. This includes events like prayer days, visits, and motivational speaker sessions for exams.
The government is committed to ensuring that the third-term learning is not disrupted. To support this, the government will provide all required capitation funds to schools.

Government funding for education includes Ksh16,249,982,722.28 billion in capitation payments to students in public primary, junior, and secondary institutions. Junior secondary schools will receive Ksh1.75 billion, free primary education will receive Ksh1.56 billion, and free day secondary education will receive Ksh12.9 billion in capitation.
These funds are expected to be wired to individual school accounts by September 20th, 2023, to facilitate focused learning activities and ensure the smooth execution of the school calendar.
Overall, the Ministry of Education has fully funded Ksh89.4 billion as capitation for learning in primary, junior, and secondary schools for the fiscal year 2022-2023.
