MoE is in uprior after 408879 students failed to apply for courses

After 408879 students failed to apply for courses, the MoE is in uproar. Concerned about pupils who didn’t apply for university placement, the ministry of education has issued a statement.

870 561 individuals met the requirements for admission to various institutions and colleges, according to Ezekiel Machogu.

Even yet, some students who met the requirements for placement chose not to enrol in degree, diploma, or certificate programmes.

23138 of the 870,561 qualified applicants did not submit an application for a degree-granting course.

This makes up 13.35% of the overall amount.

He added that 136,592 students who qualified for diploma courses chose not to apply.

“Equally, those who qualified for diploma courses in our various technical programmes and middle-level colleges, totaling 136, 592 (63.94%), have not applied for any diploma course,” Machogu said.

Additionally, 249,149 students who met the requirements for certificate programmes made no effort to apply. According to the CS, this accounts for 86.42 percent of the entire application.

The 2022 KCSE university placement results were announced on Monday, as Machogu was giving a speech at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi.

He assured those who had not applied that they could still be accepted and urged them to do so.

“We are hopeful that they will be able to apply,” said Machogu, “because our universities and technical institutions still have room.”
