MoE and TSC Sends Chilling Message to all P1 Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission has announced that the Primary Teacher Education PTE certificate would no longer be necessary to become a teacher.
This is consistent with the latest Teaching Service paper’s Framework on Entry Requirements.
But the panel says there are still alternative choices. According to the commission, a diploma that reflects the recently introduced competency-based curriculum (CBC) will now be issued in its place.
To ensure that new teachers are equipped to manage the education sector, the employer of teachers has recently tightened up on matters relating to the teaching profession.
TSC is required by the CBC Plan to stop using PTE instructors.

TSC established the minimal standards for all educators working with pupils in grades 1 through.
To work with young children, a tutor is required by the commission to possess a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).
The commission now mandates that an education diploma be the basic requirement for anyone looking to teach at any level. The goal of this project is to raise educational standards throughout the nation.
Additionally, teachers who successfully complete the ECDE, PTE, DTE, BED, DIP ED, and SNE training programmes will be accepted with post-training upgrade certificates.
After finishing the aforementioned course, teachers will be qualified and trained to instruct students in grades 1-3 and 4-6 with a concentration on foreign and native languages.
According to the TSC Databank, a number of P1 instructors have enrolled in additional courses at Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) around the nation.

Thousands of P1 teachers who hoped to be hired by TSC without having to improve their Primary Teacher Education (PTE) credentials have had their aspirations dashed by these activities.
The business has said that P1 instructors having a diploma degree will be given preference during the employment process moving forward.
These teachers will receive 10 more points than the other teachers to demonstrate that they hold a CBC upgrading certificate since we are now transitioning to a competency-based education system.
In 2024, TSC will no longer hire any P1 teachers at all. Anyone who hasn’t updated yet is now welcome to do so.
