MoE Statement On Same School Uniform Nationwide
The Ministry of Education, through Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, has declared that students across the country cannot be compelled to wear identical uniforms. Machogu made this announcement while appearing before the National Assembly Committee on Implementation.
He explained that the diverse climatic conditions in the country make it impractical to have a single, uniform uniform for all pupils and students. In regions with extremely cold weather, heavy garments like sweaters are necessary, while in areas with high temperatures, lightweight clothing is more suitable.

Machogu also noted that different uniforms are symbolic of distinct cultural traditions. He acknowledged the committee’s advice to develop a policy to prevent cartels that collaborate with school principals to compel parents to purchase uniforms from specific sellers. The ministry has issued a circular to all schools to notify parents not to subscribe to such manipulative tactics.
