Ministry of Education Alter the 2023 Term 3 Dates

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has taken a proactive step by officially issuing the comprehensive school calendar for the eagerly anticipated third term, which precedes the highly significant 2023 Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) National Examinations.

As of September 15, the esteemed Basic Education Principal Secretary, Dr. Bellio Kipsang, has judiciously disseminated a crucial statement. This announcement has set the stage for candidates who are poised to embark on their national tests, a pivotal milestone in their educational journey, with the examinations scheduled to commence on the auspicious date of October 30, 2023.

Dr. Kipsang, in his sagacious advisory, earnestly implored parents and guardians to engage in meticulous preparation strategies for their wards. He further stressed the importance of fostering a collaborative spirit with dedicated educators, as this collaborative effort will undeniably facilitate a seamless examination period for the students.

It’s noteworthy to mention that all educational institutions embarked on the commencement of the third term for the 2023 academic calendar on the date of August 28, 2023. This term is thoughtfully scheduled to extend its duration until the concluding day of October 27, thereby strategically allowing for adequate preparation time leading up to the commencement of the esteemed national examinations season.

A significant facet of the official statement is the directive that has been issued to all field officials and institutional administrators. They have been tasked with the imperative responsibility of canceling all school activities that would otherwise involve the active participation of parents and other stakeholders during this pivotal Third Term.

This directive has been put in place to ensure that there is an undistracted and dedicated focus on the rigorous preparations necessary in anticipation of the momentous National Examinations scheduled to kick off on October 30, 2023. Notably, Dr. Belio Kipsang articulated these crucial developments while addressing an audience during the 39th Annual Conference for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA), underscoring the gravity of these preparations on the national stage.

Furthermore, educational institutions have been guaranteed the receipt of their disbursement, a crucial financial allocation often regarded as capitation funds. These funds are instrumental in ensuring the flawless execution of the academic calendar.

As per the official report, the Ministry of Education has successfully secured a substantial allocation of Ksh16,249,982,722.28 Billion from The National Treasury. This generous financial provision is intended to play an indispensable role in the seamless orchestration of all school-related activities.

It’s imperative to note that these allocated funds will be disbursed directly into the accounts of learners enrolled in public Primary, Junior, as well as Secondary schools. This financial allocation serves as a lifeline, ensuring that schools have the necessary resources to provide quality education.

In line with this allocation, Dr. Kipsang further delineated the financial allocation breakdown. Junior Secondary Schools are set to receive a commendable allocation of Ksh1.75 billion, while Free Primary Education will benefit from an allocation of Ksh1.56 billion. The flagship Free Day Secondary Education program is poised to receive a substantial sum of Ksh12.9 billion as part of this capitation.

In a bid to facilitate the seamless operation of all school activities, the Ministry of Education has undertaken to credit these vital funds into respective school accounts no later than the pivotal date of September 20, 2023. Such a timely disbursement is essential to ensure that schools can meticulously plan and execute their educational programs.

The Ministry’s directive concerning the comprehensive breakdown of these allocated funds, along with guidelines pertaining to their judicious utilization, has been meticulously communicated to schools. This meticulous adherence to government regulations ensures transparency and accountability in the allocation and utilization of these crucial financial resources, thereby guaranteeing a conducive learning environment for students across the nation.
