Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United attacker is preparing to become a parent for the first time, just weeks after the Crown Prosecution Service dismissed charges against him.
Mason Greenwood of Manchester United is about to become a father for the first time, according to sources, just weeks after having attempted rape and assault charges dropped against him.
The 21-year-old was detained in January of last year and charged with attempted rape, assault, and coercive behavior, all of which were dropped earlier this month.
According to The Sun, Greenwood recently found that his partner is expecting, and the couple is “looking forward” to the baby’s birth this summer.
Greenwood has been suspended by United for over a year despite the fact that all accusations against him have been withdrawn. United is currently conducting their own inquiry before announcing how they want to handle the situation.
He is still under contract with the Red Devils, with his current agreement expiring in the summer of 2025. Greenwood is said to desire to return to the first-team squad as soon as possible.
The former England international issued a statement after all charges were dropped, but has not talked since.
His statement read: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time.”
Despite Greenwood’s desire to return to United training, some players are alleged to have expressed reservations to senior club officials about the forward’s return.
Natalie Burrell, the founder of the United Women’s Fans’ Club, has stated that she will never see him play for the club again.
According to The Sun, she explained:”United need to make a statement and letting him back would be the worst thing they could do. I don’t want to see him training, in a kit, or coming out at Old Trafford again. And I’m confident they won’t (let him).”
