Manchester United is interested in Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, who won the U-21 European Championship.

Everton loaned Jarrad Branthwaite to PSV for the 2016-17 season.

According to reports, Manchester United is contemplating a surprise move for Everton’s young defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

Erik ten Hag is very close to signing his three summer priorities, a new central midfielder, goalkeeper, and forward.

Mason Mount and Andre Onana have joined the club, and the acquisition of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta is imminent.

However, United’s manager has no intention of stopping there and would like to add a few more players before the transfer window closes.

He desires another defensive-minded midfielder, with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat a top target despite the difficulty in signing the Moroccan World Cup hero.

As the only senior goalkeepers at the club, Onana, Tom Heaton, and Dean Henderson are required, with the latter almost certainly leaving.

However, according to the Daily Mail, United are also seeking to add another central defender, with Branthwaite’s name being mentioned after he impressed scouts last season.

Man United is also interested in Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

The 21-year-old spent the 2022-23 season on loan with PSV, helping them finish second in the Eredivisie and win the Dutch Cup, despite scoring an own goal in the championship game against Ajax.

Earlier this summer, he was a member of the England squad that won the Under-21 European Championships, although he only played one game – a 2-0 victory over Germany.

Branthwaite has made a total of 13 appearances for Everton, and although he is well-liked, the Toffees may be inclined to let him go in order to generate funds for a new striker.

The Toffees are already well-stocked with defenders and require funds for a new forward.

United are also keeping an eye on Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, but Ten Hag may prefer the appearance of left-footed Branthwaite.

Lisandro Martinez is the only left-footed central defender for the Red Devils; as a result, Luke Shaw was frequently used there last season; therefore, another option there would be useful, unless Ten Hag is willing to give Harry Maguire another opportunity there.
