Manchester United Pursue Shock Deal Before Monday, While Liverpool Eyes £80m Double Swoop
Prior to the 2023/24 Premier League season, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea are pursing multiple contracts.
On Friday, July 21, here are the most recent transfer rumors from the Premier League and around the globe.
United desires conclusion of negotiations by Monday
According to reports in Italy, Manchester United hope to finalize a deal for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat by Monday.
Amrabat emerged as a surprise target for the Old Trafford club earlier this month, with an estimated £26 million fee for the World Cup hero.
Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SportWitness) reports that a deal for the midfielder may be imminent. Despite Spain’s interest, United are “most determined” to sign the player.
According to reports, the “hope of all parties involved” is to finalize an agreement by Monday, when La Viola resume preseason training.
Corriere Dello Sport reports United are in “pole position” to sign the Moroccan, while Foot Mercato claims United have made a “initial verbal offer” with a €15 million salary.
Liverpool wants an £80m double agreement
Liverpool is planning a double assault for Romeo Lavia of Southampton and Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace.
According to The Sun, Jurgen Klopp desires both midfielders this summer and believes he can acquire them for £80 million.
The Saints have placed a £50 million price tag on Lavia’s head, and the Eagles are seeking £70 million for Doucoure, according to the Daily Mail.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho will be leaving Anfield this summer, necessitating a significant investment by Jurgen Klopp to replace them.
Due to the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Reds were already lacking in midfield depth.
Diaby “wanted to move to Arsenal“
Moussa Diaby is close to joining Aston Villa from Bayer Leverkusen, but it has been reported that he preferred Arsenal.
Villa are paying over £50 million for a winger who scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in the Bundesliga last season.
Christian Falk, a journalist located in Germany, reports that he had hoped Arsenal or Newcastle United would be interested in signing him.
He is currently scheduled to join Unai Emery’s squad in the coming days.
Falk wrote: “Moussa Diaby always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and for a Champions League club.
“He hoped for Arsenal, he hoped for Newcastle but both clubs haven’t become concrete until now.
“The negotiations are very close with Aston Villa. We think he won’t play Leverkusen’s upcoming match against Paderborn on Friday so he won’t get injured.
“It’s going very quick now and they don’t think he’ll join the team when they go to the training camp on Sunday. Aston Villa will pay €55million plus €5million (£47.6million+£4.3million) in add-ons.”
Youngster departs Chelsea club
Omari Hutchinson has joined Ipswich Town on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
In January, the 19-year-old made his Premier League debut for the Blues in a 1-0 loss to Manchester City.
“We think he is a good fit for us and we can be a good match for each other,” stated Town boss Kieran McKenna.
“He is a wide player who can give us different options and is direct, can attack and test the opposition in one-v-ones and has good pace.
“This is his first senior loan so we have to remember he is very young, but he is a player we are excited to have join the group.”
Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, is formulating a third offer for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.
The Seagulls have rejected two proposals from the Londoners for the Ecuadorian, seeking close to £100 million.
Chelsea believes an offer worth £80 million will be sufficient to convince the south coast club to sign a contract.
