Manchester United in Hot Pursuit of Liverpool-Linked Midfielder, Dubbed ‘Rising Superstar’ by Agent
Manchester United and Chelsea will make it difficult for Liverpool to acquire another quality midfielder this summer.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds face competition for the signature of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia from two of their largest Premier League rivals and one foreign club.
After losing Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho, Naby Keitha, and James Milner, Liverpool’s desire to reconstitute their midfield is understandable.
The 2019-20 league champions have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
The 19-year-old Lavia is next on the list.
Despite The Saints’ relegation to the Championship, their talented young number 45, who had a highly remarkable individual debut season, has received widespread acclaim.

In an exclusive interview earlier this year, British agent Haydn Dodge discussed Chelsea’s interest in Lavia, stating:
“One of the players at the top of their list [Chelsea’s] to bring in, in January will be Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, who, in my opinion, is a superstar in the making and Belgium’s future captain.”
And now, according to these most recent reports, despite Chelsea’s longstanding interest in the Belgium international, Liverpool appear to be the frontrunners in this saga.
However, while Erik Ten Hag considers pursuing Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina, there is no assurance that the Red Devils will not attempt to outbid their formidable rivals for Southampton’s £32 million-priced midfielder.
