Man Utd’s Transfer Boost: Erik ten Hag Gets Green Light for Onana Swap
Manchester United’s chances of signing Andre Onana have been bolstered by Inter’s intensified pursuit of two new goalkeepers to succeed the esteemed stopper.
Inter is resigned to losing star goalkeeper Andre Onana to Manchester United and has arranged to acquire Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer and Anatolij Trubin.
United manager Erik ten Hag desires to acquire two new goalkeepers this summer in order to revamp the club’s goalkeeping department. While David de Gea’s contract has expired and he is no longer a United player, Dean Henderson is likely to join Nottingham Forest in a transaction worth up to £30 million.
United’s initial offer of £38.5 million for Onana, who was instrumental in the Nerazzurri’s run to the Champions League final, was rejected. Despite a £10 million disparity in club valuations, all parties are hopeful and optimistic that an agreement can be reached.
Inter will resume training on July 13 and are eager to resolve the situation prior to that date, which includes the departure of Onana and the acquisition of at least one new goalkeeper. As United have already resumed training without De Gea and as Henderson recovers from injury, there is also a sense of urgency on their part to reach an agreement.
Due to the departures of De Gea and Henderson, Manchester United are also searching for a new goalkeeper to complement Onana. Jack Butland has already departed to join Rangers, and Tom Heaton, the only senior goalkeeper recognized as physically fit, has been linked with a move to Luton.
Sky Sport Italia has reported that Inter is interested in recruiting both Sommer and Trubin. Sommer’s contract contains a clause that enables him to leave Bayern this summer for the same fee that Bayern paid to acquire him in January as a temporary injury replacement for Manuel Neuer, who has since recovered.

At Ajax, Onana and Ten Hag worked closely together.
Onana, who retired from international duty following the 2014 World Cup, joined Inter from Ajax last summer, leaving the Amsterdam club alongside Ten Hag. Prior to his transfer to Serie A, he had made 214 appearances for the Dutch club.
The 27-year-old Cameroonian starred for the Nerazzurri this season. They have reached the finals of both the Champions League and Coppa Italia, despite a somewhat disappointing Serie A season in which they finished third and 18 points behind champions Napoli.
United have acquired Mason Mount from Chelsea and are now looking to reinforce their goalkeeping and central striker positions, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund emerging as their top choice. Then, contingent on their financial situation, they will pursue defensive and midfield players.
