man united star is persuaded to save his career by making a shock transfer from Manchester United

Donny van de Beek has never been able to establish himself at Manchester United and continues to struggle for playing time, with a possible transfer this summer.

Neil Lennon advised Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek to contemplate a transfer to Celtic.

The Northern Irishman played for and managed the Scottish giants, and he believes that they would be the best location for the Dutchman to revive his career. As he rose through the ranks at Ajax and established himself as a prominent figure in Amsterdam, Van de Beek was highly regarded.

United spent £40 million to bring him to Old Trafford in 2020, but despite scoring on his debut, the versatile forward has been ignored and remains on the fringes of the first-team, making only two Premier League appearances last season. And despite having worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, he has been linked with a move away from United as the club looks to generate funds this summer.

Lennon believes that a move north of the divide could help the 26-year-old get his career back on track, but he is uncertain as to whether Celtic could finance the transfer.

When asked about a move to Celtic, he told the Go Radio Football Show, “Perhaps – his career has stalled a bit.” In the season that Ajax reached the semifinals of the Champions League with a very talented young team, he was exceptional for Ajax. He went to United, but it didn’t work out, and then he went on loan to Everton, but that also failed. Therefore, he requires a fresh start, and Celtic could provide it.

“He has undoubtedly demonstrated that he has the pedigree, and you never lose it; you just occasionally lose your confidence or your hunger and get a little lost. Players of that caliber just need a fresh start, and he may be considering Celtic as a possible destination, but a deal involving players of that caliber would require a lot of effort.

“He’ll be on huge money, let’s not beat around the bush here. Realistically, if you’re talking about [Scott] McTominay, [Kieran] Tierney or Van de Beek, it’ll probably be a loan and Celtic making a contribution towards the wages.”

In Manchester, the Dutchman has never been able to secure a position. As a playmaker, he would fall behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, and the newly acquired Mason Mount. At Ajax, he also played the No. 9 position, but United is currently seeking a dynamic forward.

Ten Hag has stated previously:

“It’s either he fights and proves himself in this environment or he goes, but for me, there is still a way for him. But it’s not going to be easy for him because the competition there is really strong.”
