Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is set to oversee his first home game on Thursday as his team hosts Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

The Red Devils are eager to secure a victory after being held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich Town in Amorim’s debut match last Sunday. Despite taking an early lead within two minutes, United failed to capitalize, reflecting their ongoing struggles this season.

United’s Current Form and European Struggles

Amorim inherited a team enduring its worst-ever start to a Premier League season, currently sitting 12th in the table.

Their struggles extend to the Europa League, where they have won just one of their four group-stage matches, leaving them in 15th place overall. As he looks for his first victory at Old Trafford, Amorim faces the challenge of turning around United’s dismal form both domestically and in Europe.

Interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

In the midst of their struggles, Manchester United is reportedly pursuing Napoli’s standout attacker, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 23-year-old Georgian winger has been a revelation since joining Napoli from Dinamo Batumi two years ago. With 30 goals and 28 assists in 103 appearances, Kvaratskhelia has drawn attention from several Premier League clubs. However, United has expressed the most serious interest, aiming to bolster Amorim’s squad with a world-class winger.

Potential Deal and Costs

Reports suggest that United is prepared to offer Kvaratskhelia a lucrative five-year contract worth £130,000 per week, along with £800,000 in easily attainable bonuses. Earlier this year, Paris Saint-Germain reportedly proposed a similar deal to the Georgian star.

Kvaratskhelia’s current contract with Napoli runs until the 2026/27 season, and the Italian club is expected to demand a transfer fee of approximately £83 million. Factoring in wages and bonuses, the total investment for United could reach £116 million.

Amorim’s priority remains securing victories, but landing Kvaratskhelia could be a significant step toward transforming Manchester United’s fortunes.
