Man City transfer news: ‘Agreement reached’ for acquisition of Guardiola following £77m bid
According to reports, RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol is ‘on the verge of departing’ the club and has’reached an agreement’ with Manchester City.
Christopher Nkunku and Konrad Laimer have already departed for Chelsea and Bayern Munich, respectively, as the Bundesliga club appears to be in the throes of a summer sale.
Dominik Szoboszlai is also close to joining Liverpool after the Reds agreed to pay £60 million to acquire the Hungary international.
As City near a deal for the highly-rated Gvardiol, it appears that a quartet of high-profile departures are now inevitable.
According to a report from BILD, the Croatian international center-back is anticipated to be the next major departure from the German club after Szoboszlai underwent his medical on Merseyside.
Gvardiol was widely regarded as the finest central defender at the World Cup in Qatar, having elevated his game with Leipzig in prior seasons.
And with Arsenal, Tottenham, and Aston Villa interested in Aymeric Laporte, Pep Guardiola is seeking another central defender.
According to the claim, Leipzig are ‘willing to discuss’ a transfer if they receive at least €100 million (£94 million).
City is reportedly willing to increase their offer of £77 million for Gvardiol in order to secure the services of a player highly regarded by Guardiola.
The player is rumored to have already agreed to personal terms for a transfer to The Etihad, leaving only the fee to be negotiated between the two clubs.
