Man City adds a new player to its Premier League enrollment after removing Joao Cancelo.

After the conclusion of the January transfer window, Manchester City has made two significant changes to their league roster.

Maximo Perrone has been added to Manchester City’s official Premier League squad, making him eligible to play this season if the club so chooses.

The 20-year-old Perrone joined City from Velez Sarsfield in January for £8.2 million, the club’s lone incoming transfer during the winter transfer window. He will have the opportunity to train with the first squad for the remainder of the season after fulfilling his international obligations with Argentina at the South American under-20 Championship.

The midfielder is viewed as a player for the future, therefore he will be given time to adapt and be evaluated over the next few months, rather than being expected to compete for a starting position this season. Next season, it will be determined if he will remain at the Etihad or be loaned out.

By adding him to the list of under-21 players in City’s official Premier League roster, Perrone retains the opportunity to play. However, it should be remembered that a total of 61 under-21 players on the club’s books, including those out on loan, are mentioned, so Perrone’s participation does not indicate whether he will or will not play in the Premier League; it is only a formality.

Joao Cancelo’s loan move to Bayern Munich on the final day of the transfer window has resulted in his removal from City’s roster for the remainder of the season. This brings City’s official roster to twenty players. Clubs are permitted up to 25 players, with up to 17 allowed to be “non-homegrown.”

The Blues roster consists of seven homegrown players and thirteen non-natives. Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer are not listed on the main list since they qualify for the under-21 list.

Man City’s Premier League squad of 20 players after the January transfer window:

Manu Akanji, Nathan Ake*, Julian Alvarez, Scott Carson*, Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Ederson, Phil Foden*, Sergio Gomez, Jack Grealish*, Ilkay Gundogan, Erling Haaland, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, Stefan Ortega, Kalvin Phillips*, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones*, Kyle Walker*.
