Magoha Asks School Heads To Accept Students Even Without Uniforms. Warns Parents Might Be Imprisoned For Keeping Children At Home
Education cabinet secretary professor George Magoha has asked parents to take their children for admission even without uniforms. At least 60 000 learners are yet to join form one with many parents citing the inability to raise school fees and purchase school uniforms as reasons for keeping their children at home.

Experts are concerned about overstretched facilities and more burden to teachers as the education ministry pushes for a 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school.

The mop-up exercise led by CS Magoha is targeting 2020 KCPE candidates who are yet to join secondary school even as he warns parents over keeping children at home.
The CS said parents of children who are meant to be in form and have not reported to the school risk being imprisoned insisting that the government is keen for all learners to transition to form one.
The CS further ordered school heads to accept learners without uniforms "If a child has no uniform let the teachers take the child and let us work about the uniform." Said Magoha.
The Education Ministry revealed that as of August 31, 25,199 students from the eastern provinces had not yet entered middle school, dealing a blow to the government's 100% transitional policy. 4,444 According to data from the Ministry of Education, the counties of Kitui and Machakos have 8,165 and 7,626 dropouts, leading the way.
The number of students who have not yet joined Meru Secondary One is 3262, Makueni 2137, Tharaka Nithi 891, Marsabit 932 and Embu 1,971. The 100 transition policy has received both plaudits and criticism in equal measure.
In Isiolo County, 3,678 out of 3,893 students are expected to report to school on Tuesday. Isiolo Education Director Hussein Koriyow (Hussein Koriyow) said that officials and heads of the Ministry of Education will continue to visit families and track 215 students who have not yet applied for Secondary One to ensure a 100% transition.
Prof. Magoha has been leading a multi-sectoral door-to-door campaign in saying the national government will task the administrators and the police to mop out all children yet to report to secondary school and have their parents arrested for denying them the right to education.
