Machogu gives Reasons Why Acting Deputy Principals Have Not Been Confirmed

Ezekiel Machogu, the Education Cabinet Secretary, has voiced the government’s strong commitment to revitalizing the education sector. He highlighted a significant milestone in this effort, which is the recruitment of an unprecedented 56,000 new teachers for primary and secondary schools during President William Ruto’s leadership this year.

Addressing concerns about delayed promotions of acting deputy principals, CS Ezekiel Machogu assured that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is aware of the issue. He mentioned that TSC will soon issue a statement to provide assistance to institutions facing a shortage of personnel.

CS Machogu’s remarks came during his attendance at the 28th graduation ceremony of Moi Teachers Training College in Baringo. Local leaders, including Senator William Cheptumo and others, raised concerns about a shortage of over 2,000 teachers in both primary and secondary schools across the county’s seven sub-counties.

Senator Cheptumo expressed frustration over the delayed promotions of acting deputy principals, emphasizing their potential role in filling vacancies in specific institutions within the county. He was joined by Woman Representative Florence Jematia and Baringo Central Member of Parliament Joshua Kandie.

Jematia stressed the importance of maintaining school facilities for the benefit of future generations, while MP Joshua Kandie called for collaborative efforts between both levels of government to improve the infrastructure of local educational institutions, some of which are currently in poor condition.

He emphasized the significance of providing students with a conducive learning environment to help them achieve their educational goals.
