Mokwerero Secondary School studenthas been arrested after a botched attempt of hacking his Deputy Principal with a machete.
The incident that occurred at Mokwerero Secondary School in Kitutu Masaba Constituency, Nyamira County has revealed that something needs to be done to protect teachers from insolent and violent students.
The Mokwerero Secondary student reportedly seized within the school compound while armed with a machete and a sharpening file by teachers who rescued the deputy principal from the botched attack. The matter is under police investigations according to the Teachers Service Commission.
Just yesterday a form three student at Kisii High School stabbed two teachers with a knife. The student has today pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges.
The 17-year-old student dismissed the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh. 50,000 or bond of Ksh. 100,000. He will be remanded at Manga Juvenile Home.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has asked Kenyans to help monitor children.
“TSC regrets the recent attacks on our teachers by the leaners in Kisii and the attempted attack by another student in Mokwerero Sec School in Nyamira County. Let’s all Kenyans of goodwill help mentor our children positively, ” TSC tweeted on Wednesday.
