Lugulu Girls High School Protest Over Defilement Of a Girl

Learning was disrupted on Tuesday at Lugulu Girls High School in Bungoma County as students demonstrated to protest the defilement of one of their colleagues.

306 Furious students took to the streets as they walked from their school compound to Webuye Police Station demanding for the arrest of the perpetrator.

They carried placards and sang protest songs demanding that justice be done to the student said to have been defiled on Saturday morning when she was taking a bath before morning classes.

The 1form 4 candidate was allegedly saved by a fellow student who arrived at the scene and began screaming for help.

The man escaped as other students were woken up by the screams. The victim was quickly taken to the school’s sickbay for first aid.

Bungoma County quality education assurance officer Caleb Omondi addressed the students asking them to return to school.

He affirmed them that the police have taken up the matter and the perpetrator will be apprehended.

Bungoma residents, politicians and parents at the school led by Mukasa Kilwake also condemned the incident requesting for quick investigations.

“Police should move with speed & arrest this crooks who rapped a girl in Lugulu Girls High School in Bungoma County. The school management is failing, if they have to wait until students protest. MOE should not wait for the media for them to act.” Nominated MP Gideon Keter said.
