List of KMTC Short Courses and Study Durations:

• Basic Life Support: This one-week course imparts students with fundamental life support techniques crucial for emergency situations, enabling them to save lives. The curriculum encompasses cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and airway management.
• Community Health Nursing Bridging Course: Designed for nurses holding a nursing diploma, this two-year course facilitates their transition to a degree in community health nursing. The curriculum covers subjects such as community health nursing, epidemiology, health promotion, and disease prevention.
• Computer Packages: This two-month course equips students with essential computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The curriculum focuses on file management, data entry, and basic computer troubleshooting.
• ECG Interpretation and Arrhythmia Management: In this one-week course, students learn to interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs) and manage arrhythmias in patients. The curriculum encompasses ECG interpretation, cardiac arrhythmias, and pharmacological interventions.
• Paediatric Neuro-rehabilitation: This course, completed within two weeks, provides participants with evidence-based essential skills in treating children with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cognitive impairments.
• HIV/AIDS Management: Spanning one week, this course covers the management of HIV/AIDS in patients. The curriculum includes topics such as HIV/AIDS epidemiology, antiretroviral therapy, opportunistic infections, and patient counseling.
• Infection Prevention and Control: This one-week course focuses on infection prevention and control measures within healthcare settings. The curriculum addresses hand hygiene, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), sterilization and disinfection, and outbreak management.
• Medical Engineering: Extending over six months, this course educates students on designing, developing, and maintaining medical equipment and devices. The curriculum encompasses medical electronics, biomedical instrumentation, and medical equipment maintenance.
• Echo-cardiography: This three-month course enables participants to perform and interpret echocardiograms and ultrasound imaging of the heart and blood flow. It provides comprehensive knowledge of the latest scientific laboratory equipment and the use of clinical skills laboratories and echocardiographic machines.
• First Aid and Basic Life Support: This course, completed in two weeks, empowers participants to prevent and manage life-threatening emergencies. The training adheres to approved international guidelines.
• International English Language Course: Designed to prepare participants for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and OET (Occupational English Language Test), this course facilitates study or migration abroad. It can be taken online or during evening hours, with a duration of six weeks.
• Vestibular Rehabilitation: This course prepares participants with knowledge and skills to manage vestibular system, dizziness and balance disturbance disorders. The course takes one week.
• Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation; This prepares participants to address the physiotherapy management of a person with cardiac/ pulmonary system dysfunction. The duration of study for this course is 2 weeks.
• Sign Language for Health workers; The course prepares participants to communicate in sign language, helping the deaf access healthcare in line with Universal Health Coverage. The course takes a total of 6 months; 3 Months for full time learning and 3 months for practicum.
• Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation; This course is designed to provide participants with essential skills to perform assessment in pelvic floor dysfunctions and treatment interventions using evidence-based practice technique. This course takes up to 2 weeks to study.
