List Of Headteachers Whose Contracts Will Be Terminated In December

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will not only not extend the contracts of primary school headteachers who were appointed to serve as principals of junior secondary schools (JSS) in December 2023, but they will also terminate the contracts of those primary school headteachers who are currently serving in those roles.

At the beginning of this academic year, the Headteachers were each given a deployment letter to JSS, which marked the commencement of their one-year contract that would continue until the 30th of December 2023.

A report that was recently distributed by the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER) was presented to the public by President William Ruto at the State House the previous week as a result of recent developments. As a result of the recommendations that will be put into action in the span of one year, the Nursery school, Primary school, and Junior school will henceforth function as a single entity.

Comprehensive School will be the name given to the single entity that will span all three levels and will be led by a principal. The principal will be helped in their duties by teachers who will head the nursery, primary, and junior schools, and those teachers will be referred to as deputy principals.

According to the TSC, both the principal and his deputy instructors are required to have at least a bachelor’s degree in education and be graduate level educators. The majority of primary school headteachers in the United Kingdom are currently P1 teachers who do not have degrees, however a significant proportion do have diplomas.

During the promotion process, the TSC did not consider the qualifications of the headmaster. Instead, an individual was given a deployment letter to JSS as long as they had Grade 7 students who were domiciled at the school. According to the standards that are now in place, the headteachers are supposed to take charge of the JSS during a transitional phase that will end on December 30, 2023.

In accordance with the guidelines that are currently in place, the headteachers are expected to take charge of the JSS during a transitional period that will end on December 30, 2023. There are about 23,000 public primary schools in Kenya, the majority of which have been given permission to host JSS by the Ministry of Education.

It would be the responsibility of the commission as well as the ministry to formulate certain rules for senior teachers who will report to the Principal.

The headteachers who do not meet the requirements to become principals of comprehensive schools will be demoted and are likely to be given less significant responsibilities. As a result, they will no longer have authority over the running of the school or its finances.

As a result of the TSC’s inability to entice candidates for administrative posts, some schools have been forced to function without actual heads of school. The principal of the comprehensive school will also serve as the chief accounting officer for all of the departments that report to him or her.
