List of all Interdicted Teachers By TSC, September 2023

In accordance with the authority granted by the Teachers Service Commission Act, Section 30(1)(e), Chapter 212 of the Kenyan Laws, the individuals whose names are listed in the schedule below, which the Commission intends to make public, have been removed from the Teachers Register as per Section 30(2) of the Teachers Service Commission Act.

This notice is directed towards those individuals whose names are included in the aforementioned schedule, as well as the general public. It is essential to understand the implications of the following provisions from the Teachers Service Commission Act:

a) When a teacher’s name is removed from the register under this Act, reinstatement can only occur upon the Commission’s directive. This means that teachers who have been removed can only return to teaching when authorized by the Commission itself.

b) Once a teacher’s name is removed from the register, they cease to be considered a teacher under this Act, effective from the removal date. In other words, their status as a teacher is terminated from the moment of removal.

c) Engaging in teaching services is prohibited for anyone who is not registered as a teacher under this Act. This emphasizes that only registered teachers are legally permitted to engage in teaching activities.

Additionally, in accordance with the TSC Act and Regulation 18(1)(c)(d) of the Code of Regulations for Teachers, combined with Section 45 of the TSC Act, it is emphasized that:

d) Any person who, not being a teacher under the Act, teaches or assists in teaching in any school is committing an offense. This makes it clear that unauthorized individuals conducting teaching duties are in violation of the law.

e) Allowing or employing an unregistered person to teach in any school is also considered an offense, and those found guilty may face a fine of not less than one hundred thousand shillings, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both. This provision highlights the legal consequences for schools or individuals who hire or allow unregistered individuals to teach, including significant fines and possible imprisonment.
