LIST OF 1300 TEACHERS WHO WILL NOT RECEIVE PROMOTION LETTERS

At least 1,500 school administrators who had applied for promotions, had interviews, and were expecting promotion letters got a bad surprise this week.

Instead of promotion letters, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) sent letters of sorrow to teachers.

1,300 of the instructors who received letters of regret, according to TSC, still have time to submit an application.

It is unclear why the Commission revoked their appointments given that they had already been confirmed and shortlisted after county-specific interviews.

Sadly, some acting teachers who had hoped to be confirmed were unsuccessful.

TSC has told the teachers to reapply for the positions when a promotion advertisement is released.

Whether TSC will take up the following teacher promotion issue is unknown.

According to TSC data, 3,359 public schools do not have head teachers.

There are 1,441 senior schools without principals and 1,918 public elementary schools without principals.

3359 schools around the nation are understaffed with school administrators.

This is the result of the government’s efforts to transform the educational landscape.

TSC advertised 14,738 promotion positions in December 2022, but those positions were later cancelled.

Due to a lack of applicants from teachers, the cancellations also occurred in January, March, and May.

The majority of the teachers who participated in the March promotion interviews were assigned to their respective counties.

The TSC CEO cited teachers as the reason several counties’ announced advancement positions went unfilled.

According to the TSC chief, the commission earlier this year publicised 14,738 opportunities for the promotion of teachers to different grades to fill jobs created by attrition.

However, only 11,231 teachers were hired, while 3,507 positions went unfilled for want of qualified candidates. Affirmative action teachers were eligible for 1,021 positions overall.

For both regular and special schools, TSC posted job advertisements for the positions of chief principal, principal, deputy principal, senior master, headteacher and senior teacher.
