“Last-Minute Twist”: Chelsea’s Transfer Target Seeks to Revoke Agreement, Posing 11th-Hour Hijack Threat
Before the start of the new season, Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, could be dealt a crushing setback in terms of player transfers.
Washington is reportedly interested in joining Monaco, which would be a stunning transfer U-turn.
The teenager from Santos is believed to have reached a verbal agreement with the Blues, but a last-ditch effort by the French club has left Todd Boehly facing a disastrous transfer failure.
This week, Chelsea made a formal offer of £17 million for the promising teen Deivid, marking a significant step toward Stamford Bridge. Personal terms have been agreed upon between player and club, and the Brazilian is reportedly eager to make the transfer.
Although the ‘imminent’ deal had progressed to the stage where Chelsea was preparing announcement plans, Boehly and company are now on the verge of a painful hijack. Foot Mercato reports that Monaco barged into negotiations before the contract was signed.
And despite having agreed to join Chelsea, the teenager reportedly prefers a transfer to Ligue 1.

Chelsea and Monaco are interested in acquiring Deivid Washington via transfer.
Mauricio Pochettino’s prospects of signing the 18-year-old are not completely dashed, as Chelsea reportedly submitted a higher offer than Monaco. The ‘crucial hours’ of transfer negotiations have now begun.
This season, Deivid has scored twice in nine league outings.
He would become the second player to move from Santos to Chelsea in this transfer window, after his former teammate Angelo was acquired earlier this summer.
Under Boehly, the Blues have been intent on recruiting some of the world’s top rising talent. Angelo, Andrey Santos, Carney Chukwuemeka, David Datro Fofana, and Cesare Casadei are among the notable players brought to Stamford Bridge in the past year.
If Monaco are unable to hijack Chelsea’s £17 million agreement, Deivid will reportedly spend a season on loan with the Blues’ sister club Strasbourg.
This is despite a lack of options at the summit of the pitch, especially following Christopher Nkunku’s recent injury.

This summer, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly could lose out on Deivid Washington.
BlueCo, the consortium that purchased Chelsea, purchased a majority stake in Strasbourg earlier this summer and is expected to assist in the development of a number of Blues players.
Boehly is back to his old tactics behind the scenes this summer, as Chelsea has once again invested heavily.
The most expensive recruits are Nkunku, Axel Disasi, and Nicolas Jackson, while the signing of Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was verified on Saturday.
