KUPPET Urge Parents To Prepare To Take Their Children Back To School

The debate is still going on whether to reopen schools before next year on January or not. Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers now says it is safe for learning to resume.

KUPPET Secretary-general Mr Akello Misori says following the drop of Covid-19 infection in the country, the Government should consider it's the stance and reopen learning institutions.

Kuppet is calling on parents to prepare to take their children back to school Sooner than the expected January next year. Kuppet SG Akello Misori urged the govt to consider reopening schools earlier in October this year for the 2nd academic term following the drop of the Covid-19 curve.

In his opinion, Akello wants 2nd term to resume in October noting that if there is any amendment to make ut should be made upon reopening but we should not miss a whole calendar of the academic year.

He noted that some schools are having a problem in implementing social distance due to lack of adequate infrastructure such as classrooms. Akello suggests that the government should help the institutions hire a tent for learning.

He said that the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national examinations could be done in May 2020 but insisted on the need for thorough analysis.

Akello Misori is part of the task force tasked by the Ministry of Education to formulate the coronavirus protocols before school are reopened. The team is supposed to hand over its recommendation documents to cs magoha on Monday.

Schools were closed in March following the first coronavirus case in Kenya. Education Cabinet Secretary Magoha later announced that schools would reopen in January next year noting that no National Examinations would be done in 2020.
