KUPPET Says Politicians Have Taken Control of TSC, Seizing Job
The National Chairman of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and Emuhaya MP, Omboko Milemba, has alleged that politicians are manipulating the recruitment process conducted by the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) to favor their associates. Speaking to residents in Vihiga, he pointed out that the TSC’s teacher recruitment lacks fairness as politicians have secured a significant number of positions. Omboko has pledged to raise this issue in the National Assembly to prevent political interference in TSC’s operations.
Omboko expressed regret over politicians gaining control of TSC’s operations by acquiring job positions advertised by the institution, warning that this could lead to an unfair teacher recruitment process, potentially limiting opportunities for children. He urged TSC to maintain professionalism by distributing job openings equitably across the country and emphasized the need for impartial teacher recruitment to ensure all qualified teachers have opportunities.

He also requested TSC to consider teachers who completed their training a long time ago during the recruitment process. Omboko called for TSC to uphold professionalism, conduct fair teacher recruitment, and resist political pressure, emphasizing that job opportunities should be based on merit.
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi echoed these concerns and accused politicians associated with the Kenya Kwanza faction of occupying government positions to reward their supporters. During addresses in Vihiga, Osotsi mentioned teacher recruitment by TSC, Kenya Defense Forces, and the employment of Kenya Revenue Authority personnel, alleging that government-affiliated politicians had used these opportunities to benefit their followers.
Osotsi revealed that he had raised this matter in the Senate and requested the lists of individuals hired by TSC, KRA, and KDF to assess the regional balance in the distribution of such positions. He claimed to have asked Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, for these lists, with the intention of ensuring fairness in the recruitment process.
