KUCCPS Scrap School Course Application System
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the discontinuation of the school/center application system for students seeking government funding. Under this application method, KUCCPS requires secondary school principals to upload the program preferences submitted by KCSE candidates in their respective schools.
In a letter dated October 9 and addressed to all secondary school principals nationwide, KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome cited the termination of the application process as a consequence of the new funding model. In this fresh approach, applicants select their programs based on various factors, including the cost per program as displayed in the placement agency’s online application system.
KUCCPS, a State Corporation, holds the responsibility of coordinating the placement of Government-Sponsored Students into universities and colleges. It also develops career guidance programs for the benefit of students, disseminates information regarding available programs, their associated costs, and the academic areas prioritized by the Government, among other functions.

According to Wahome, the application for placement in universities and colleges will begin following the release of KCSE Examination results and the disclosure of program details, capacities, and associated costs by training institutions. This information will aid applicants and their parents/guardians in making informed decisions.
Wahome also highlighted KUCCPS’s commitment to providing ongoing career guidance to students while they are still in school and supporting them in choosing subjects that align with their desired careers. Furthermore, capacity building for Career Guidance Teachers will be strengthened to enable them to guide students effectively in the application for placement.
