KUCCPS Given 7 Days to Respond Why Placement Results could Only be accessed Via SMS
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Board (KUCCPS) has seven days to provide an explanation for why students could only receive their KCSE placement results via an SMS service that cost Sh25.
According to the Commission on Administrative Justice, the KUCCPS placement service was expensive and did not offer recipients any other options for obtaining the information without paying for it.
“The Commission undertook a preliminary investigation into the matter whereof an audit of your institutional website did not yield information on how students could access the placement information on the website, or know the alternative ways in which such information could be accessed without incurring unnecessary costs,” the Florence Kajuju-chaired commission noted.
The Justice Commission also claims that the Corporation should have given the pupils alternate access options to the information.
According to a letter from the Administrative Justice Commission, “To comply with the obligation on proactive disclosure of information, your institution is expected to have provided adequate guiding information on the alternative access procedures on your website or any other media (online or otherwise) in addition to the information on SMS access.”
This is a request that you react to the aforementioned issues and let the Commission know what steps your institution has taken to guarantee complete compliance within seven days of this date.
On Monday, July 31, Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, said that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students’ 2022 university placement results would be made public.
Students who were admitted to universities, TVETs, and teacher training institutions had to send their KCSE Index numbers to the number 20842 in order to check their results through SMS.
