KUCCPS Final Update To All 2022 KCSE Candidates

Students have till Wednesday of the next week to use the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to apply for placements or change their university and college preferences.

In order to allow the agency to simulate, the gateway that was opened on May 17 will be shut down on Wednesday.

According to their performance and the resources that higher education institutions have available, students will be assigned to programs.

From June 19 through June 30, the portal will be reopened for the second revision. Students who did not get into their top-choice programs or schools will have another chance to apply.

The portal will then be open for the third and final revision from July 10 to 14 after another one-week simulation.

After a final simulation, pupils will learn their placement on August 9. 90% of students who are eligible for university entrance apply for placement, according to KUCCPS director Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome.

The organization anticipates that 155,000 of the 173,127 pupils who earned C+ or higher on the KCSE in 2022 will apply and accept their places.

Due to the new funding arrangement, the application process this year is drastically changed.

In the new system, the government has abandoned the differentiated unit cost paradigm in favor of directly funding students through a combination of scholarships, loans, and bursaries rather than through capitation payments to universities.

To enable students to determine the cost their families will have to endure, all universities taking part in the centralized placement have listed the cost of all of their programs on the KUCCPS portal.

“Universities need to draw in students. Additionally, the courses must be related to the labor market. “Our ultimate goal is to have university education funded at 80% loans and 20% scholarships,” Dr. Wahome stated. “We want to put more money into loans.

Under the new funding arrangement, students from less needy homes would pay more for their university education because those who are most in need will receive full government loans, scholarships, and bursaries.

By replacing automatic grants with student loans supported by a revolving fund and scholarships, the plan intends to drastically change how the government finances higher education.

Three organizations in the higher education sector will work together to put the plan into practice. These are the Universities Fund, the Higher Education Loans Board, and the KUCCPS.
