Wednesday, May 17, was the start date for students who took the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to begin applying for higher programs, according to Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education Ezekiel Machogu.

Students can apply for undergraduate degree programs, diplomas, certificates, and artisan courses depending on their KCSE mean grade.

Except for a diploma in education, which requires a C+ (plus) mean grade, those interested in pursuing diploma courses are required to have a minimum grade of C- (minus).

Educationnewsarena.co.ke created a list of the five most marketable Programmes and some of the approved schools delivering them that are members of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). Unless otherwise specified, diploma courses cost Ksh67,189 annually.

Diploma in Education

Universities, teacher preparation programs, and Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) all offer the Diploma in Education.

If they choose to do the course, students can apply for a Teachers Service Commission (TSC) number and work as secondary school teachers.

They are provided by renowned institutions including Masinga Technical and Vocational College, Kibabii Diploma Teachers Training College, Lugari Diploma Teachers Training College, and Kagumo Teachers Training College.

Diploma in Catering and Accommodation Management.

Students who want to work in the hospitality sector should take this course.

With two semesters per year, the course lasts two years.

To apply for this course, your KCSE exam grade must be at least C- (minus).

Baringo Technical College, Coast Institute of Technology, Eldoret Polytechnic, Kabete National Polytechnic, and Kisumu Polytechnic are a some of the universities that provide them.

Diploma in Electrical Engineering

One of Kenya’s most marketable diploma programs is this one since graduates can work for themselves.

Bondo Technical Training Institute, Butere Technical and Vocational College, Coast Institute of Technology, Eldoret Polytechnic, Kabete National Polytechnic, and Kenya Coast Polytechnic are a few of the KUCCPS-accredited schools that provide a diploma in electrical engineering.

Journalism and mass media certificate

If you wish to work in journalism but didn’t get the C+ required for admission to university, you can still apply for a certificate in journalism and mass media as long as you got at least a C- (minus).

Masinga Technical and Vocational College, Michuki Technical Training Institute, Molo Technical and Vocational College, and Sigalagala National Polytechnic are among the institutions that provide KUCCPS-approved courses that offer them.

Diploma Information and Communications Technology

For students who want to apply for government scholarships, DICT is only offered at two colleges that have been approved by the KUCCPS.

If willing, students can enroll in the course through a self-sponsored program and then apply to other universities.

Borabu Technical and Vocational College and Meru University of Science and Technology are two institutions that offer DICT.
