Many individuals within the university and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) sectors express concerns about the future of higher education, particularly in light of recent proposals for alternative funding methods.
The government intends to allocate funding for higher education based on specific criteria unveiled by President William Ruto in May 2023. Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary responsible for education, introduced the Higher Education Funding (HEF) website on July 31, 2023. This portal allows students to apply for financial assistance upon receiving an admission letter.
However, questions have arisen regarding the application process and the selection of recipients for government scholarships, which raises concerns about potential gaps in the system.

To be eligible for a scholarship from the Kenya University Fund, applicants must be Kenyan citizens and have taken the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2022. The Kenya Universities Central Referral Service (KUCCPS) may also recommend enrolling in various undergraduate, diploma, craft certificate, or craft courses offered by accredited public universities or teacher education institutions (TETs) in Kenya. This scholarship will be available for KCSE tests beginning in 2022.

1. Letter of acceptance to a university or college and, if sponsored by a secondary school, a letter from the school’s sponsoring faculty.
2. Valid email address and phone number registered under the applicant’s name.
3. Passport photos and birth certificates.
4. Parent/guardian registration numbers, and in case of parental death, a death certificate.
5. Two guarantors’ social security numbers and contact information when applying for a loan.
To apply for a scholarship or job posting on this platform, you must first create an account, log in, complete the necessary fields, attach the required documents, and then submit your application.
