KNEC Starts Paying 2020 KCSE Examiners After Many Months
Kenya National Examinations Council, (KNEC), has begun issuing payments to the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examiners.
Contracted teachers who marked the national examination have gone for many months of payments delay even after the official 2020 KCPE results were released.
KNEC says the delay in payment of the Supervision dues was caused by the hectic method of reconciling the contracted teachers’ data. The council took time to retrieve the details from the attendance registers that were marked during the examinations administration process.
The primary school heads who acted as Centre Managers for KCPE exams are expecting to get their daily subsistence allowance of Sh500, for a total of 4 days which include rehearsal day.
Those who have started receiving their payment include professions contracted for Home Science pp2, Agric pp1 and pp2, Music pp2, Biology pp2, Drawing & Designing pp1, Cre pp2, Building & Construction pp2 and English paper 1.
KNEC however failed to consider the payment for Deputy Head Teachers and Deputy Principals who were present throughout the examination period as assistant Centre Managers.
Teachers who handled science subjects, prepared and administered practicals during the KCSE examinations will also not receive a penny.
The marking exercises for the Kenya Certificate Of Secondary Education has been termed by examiners as the worst experience due to pressure from the ministry of education that saw the marking exercise complete in about ten days.
“Finally we can eat the fruits of our hard labor even though it is little”, one examiner has confessed.
