KNEC Opens CP2 Portal for Teachers to Register; Check Out
Teachers registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) are being encouraged to enroll themselves on the Contracted Professionals platform, commonly known as CP2. This platform, managed by the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec), serves as a means to deploy contracted professionals during national exams.
These contracted professionals encompass teachers, security personnel, and drivers. Nursery, primary, and secondary school teachers will play a crucial role in administering this year’s exams.
By registering their details on CP2, Knec can effectively deploy these teachers and facilitate payments once the exams conclude and the results are made public. Knec has finalized its plans to oversee national examinations for approximately 2.3 million students, including those sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. The KCPE exam will have around 1,415,315 candidates, while the KCSE exam will have 903,260 candidates.
David Njengere, the Chief Executive of the Kenya National Examination Council, has indicated that preparations are also in place for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for 1,282,574 Grade Six learners.
Furthermore, Knec has established payment rates for contracted professionals in 2022, based on their roles and the region where they are engaged. These rates vary depending on the position and region.
To enhance exam security, Knec has introduced new measures. Instead of collecting all the day’s examination papers in the morning, center managers, who are typically school heads, will only collect the morning papers. Additional containers have been procured to bring examination storage facilities closer to schools, reducing the time taken to collect and return examination papers.
This change aims to prevent early exposure to afternoon papers. Officials of schools or examination centers will be required to collect question papers from the nearest container, eliminating the need to travel to sub-county containers.
As per the Knec 2023 examination timetable, KCPE and KPSEA examination candidates will rehearse on Friday, October 27. The three-day exams will run concurrently, starting on Monday, October 30, and concluding on Wednesday, November 1. The KCSE exam will follow, scheduled from November 2 to November 24.

Exam malpractice remains a concern, with various government agencies engaged in discussions and assigning blame. The police, investigators, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the Judiciary, and the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) have all been involved in these discussions and blame games.
Despite these challenges, preparations for the upcoming examinations are in full swing, with examination officials closely monitoring the preparation processes at the printing facilities.
