The Kenya Defence Force (KDF) has schedule February for recruitment of new general service officer (GSO) cadets, specialist officers, general duty recruits, undergraduate, degree holders, tradesmen/women and constables.
Those willing to join KDF must meet the conditions they had slated which include:
Must be a Kenyan citizen with no dual citizenship.
Must have a valid Kenyan ID with four copies of it and PIN certificates which will also be required.
Should be of age between 18 and 26 years old for those filling GSO cadets, general duty recruits and tradesmen/women with certificates or government trade test, and for specialists officers, tradesmen/women with diplomas should not be above 30 years while chaplains and imams should not be above 39 years.
Should be medically and physically fit by the KDF standards.
Should have no criminal record.
The minimum height for women should be 1.52m (5ft) while the men should be 1.60m (5ft 3in).
The minimum weight for women should be 50.00 kg (110lb) while the men should be 54.55 kg (120lb).
Female candidates should not be pregnant during the recruitment period and during the training duration time.
Those seeking the position of specialist officers and tradesmen/women should have a minimum experience of 2years of practising experience in their field of specialization from the date of registration with a relevant regulatory or statutory body in Kenya.
For GSO candidates should have a minimum grade of B plain in KCSE with C+ in English, Mathematics and one science subject. Training in this category will be three years that will lead to a BSc degree in Military Science and Security Studies.
For GSO cadets who are undergraduate degree holders must meet the above requirements to qualify as GSO cadet and should hold an undergraduate degree from a recognized university institution. Their training shall last for 11 months.
Specialist Officers.
Must hold the GSO cadet minimum requirements.
Only chaplains/ imams must hold a minimum mean grade of C+.
Must be a holder of an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
Their training shall last for 6 months.
Servicemen/women General Duty Recruits though must hold D plain minimum mean grade.
Tradesmen/women
For technicians, KSCE minimum mean grade is C plain and a diploma from a known institution and should be registered with relevant bodies.
Artisans KSCE minimum mean grade is D+ and also a relevant certificate with government trade test grade II or COAL II from a recognized institution.
National Youth Service (NYS) with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Constables
Should be a retired KDF Service Member or a retired National Youth Serviceman or woman.
Be between ages of 30 and 55 for retired KDF member and ages of 35 and 45 years for retired NYS member.
Must possess a Discharge Certificate with minimum conduct rating of ‘Very Good’.
Should have served for 9 years in the Colour Service and retired for KDF honourably.

KDF has warned against bribery and other acts of corruption which are against the law and those found engaging in such acts shall be arrested and prosecuted.
